Bowmanville Zoo Uses Fear and Intimidation to Train Animals
A debate discussing a ban on snares has been tabled in the UK Parliament for this Thursday (21st July). We need you to contact your MP encouraging them to attend this debate.

Snares are thin wire nooses designed to trap ‘predator’ species. The nature of their design means that – despite supposedly being used as a restraining device – they cause severe injuries to animals caught in them.

These injuries include limb amputation, strangulation and often a slow agonising death. Due to the indiscriminate nature of snares it is not just foxes that are caught, but also badgers, otters, hares, deer and even domestic pets such as cats and dogs.

The more MPs that attend and speak out against the barbaric use of snares, the more likely it is that the Government will be forced to act.

You can take action by writing to your MP, letting them know your concerns about snaring, and asking them to attend the debate.

It only takes a few moments, so please take action now, for the sake of all the countless animals who fall victim to snares. Click here to contact your MP
THIS is circus training.
Throughout China, circuses, traveling shows, and roadside zoos force animals—including bears, monkeys, tigers, lions, dogs, and others—to perform for the public. A PETA Asia investigator visited 10 different circuses and animal training facilities in the city of Suzhou, which alone encompasses more than 300 circuses, and documented animal abuse and suffering on a massive scale.

PETA Asia's investigator documented that bear cubs are chained or tethered to a wall and forced to stand on their hind legs, sometimes for hours. If they can't hold themselves up, they risk choking and hanging themselves.

This bear's snout was pierced with a metal ring, which was used to lead her around.
One monkey, named Xiaohau by the investigator, was dragged around by a rope around her neck, causing her to struggle frantically and try to escape.
THESE ANIMALS NEED YOUR HELP. Any circus that uses animals inevitably subjects them to terrifying and cruel training methods as well as barren, cramped living conditions. U.S.-based circuses like Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, UniverSoul Circus, Jordan World Circus, and others continue to exploit animals. Training sessions take place behind closed doors and are not regulated by a protective entity. Jordan World Circus—one of the largest producers of Shrine Circuses in the country—even uses bears, just like the Chinese circuses that PETA Asia investigated. Please click here to learn more about the investigation and pledge never to buy a ticket to any circus that uses animals.

Thailand: Free Chained and Caged Monkeys Forced to Perform Tricks for Tourists!

Target: Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, and Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservationmore - 73,656 SUPPORTERS of the 75,000 GOAL

Visitors to the Chiang Mai Monkey Centre in Thailand have reported a heartbreaking scene. Monkeys tethered by metal collars and chain leashes are forced to perform tricks such as riding bicycles, playing basketball, and doing push-ups to entertain tourists. When they are not performing, the monkeys are chained to trees or cages where they cannot move more than one or two feet.

Reviewers on TripAdvisor have written that the "monkeys aren't happy" and described the Centre as "horrific." Visitors have stated that they "felt ashamed to take photos" and "could hardly watch" the abusive treatment. YouTube footage from 2015 shows a fearful monkey on a chain riding a bicycle in circles.

According to the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT), most animals used in Thai tourism have been kidnapped from their families in the wild. They are now dependent upon their human handlers and perform out of terror.

The WFFT commented to The Dodo, "[The animals] are malnourished and imprisoned as slaves for their short span of useful life, then killed or abandoned to make way for the next money making animal."

Please join me in urging the government of Thailand to shut down the abusive Chiang Mai Monkey Centre and send the animals to an accredited sanctuary. These intelligent, sensitive animals are suffering and scared – they desperately need you to speak up for them IMMEDIATELY! Please sign and share this petition right away!
